Hi!  I'm Candice and I'm so happy you're here!  I've always believed in the power of storytelling to teach just about anything, including academic subjects.  As a classroom teacher, I could always find books about science and social studies topics, but I couldn't find books that explained math topics or literacy concepts.  I also had to create my own worksheets and programs to teach sight words and math facts in a way that met my students' needs AND was grounded in research. 

 

After leaving the physical classroom and earning my Masters' degree in Instructional Design, I began writing and publishing the very books I wish I had when I was in the classroom, along with the programs that I designed and used with my own students because I knew they worked!

Now, my work and my passion is to share these resources with other teachers and with homeschooling parents through my business, Start With a Story.  I truly believe that stories can teach academic subjects very effectively and I know from personal experience and the testimonials of others who have used my books and programs that engagement, retention, and mastery levels go WAY up when this powerful strategy for teaching is used.
